Merc 75 Outboard Electrical Connection - Connect to Boat Battery.
 

ELECTRICAL UNDER COWLING (1988) - The red wire ishown at right is positive battery connected to the starter switch.  The black wire (negative) shown at right (just barely visible below the red), connects to the case.  These wires replaced the previous oil soaked Mercury wires. 

Shown below are the wires led out of the cowling that plug into the power connector I installed on Panache's transom.
